The U.S. Treasury Department is ramping up efforts to stop the flow of stolen cryptocurrencies from a historic $620 million hack.

The U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) on Friday sanctioned Blender.io, a crypto-mixing service that obfuscates the origin and destination of Bitcoin transactions, in an effort to bar the service and its operators from using the global financial system.

Blender is allegedly involved in ransomware attacks, the Treasury Department said in a press statement.
