Criminals and totalitarian regimes are often the first to exploit the benefits of artificial intelligence, according to Aleph Alpha GmbH, an AI startup trying to build a European rival to the large language models created by OpenAI and Google. "The general problem with AI is it gives humans superpowers," CEO Jonas Andrulis said in an interview on Bloomberg Television. "It gives superpowers to people in manufacturing and research, and that's awesome. But it also gives superpowers to people who want to influence elections, that want to bring people down, that want to do crime," he added.
