Many experts and analysts believe the banking crisis has just begun and we are in for some choppy, unpredictable times ahead. Despite the stress in the banking system, particularly regional banks, the Federal Reserve voted unanimously this week to raise interest rates for the 9th consecutive time, raising their benchmark interest rate by a quarter percentage point to just under 5%. Upon the news, Bitcoin took a slight dip, dropping to the $26,980 range but has recovered, slightly, as it trades for $27,759.74 at the time of writing. Bitcoin has made a run since the banking crisis, flirting with the $30,000 level but not quite breaking through. The bullish action for Bitcoin hasn’t impressed Chamath Palihapitiya however. In this podcast, Chamath expressed that although he is one of the earliest believers in Bitcoin and believes it has a place in ones’ portfolio, he doesn’t understand why (with all the problems in the system) the flagship crypto hasn’t run up to at least $35,000. While Chamath reiterated that he’s a big believer long term, he stated that now is not the time for crypto maxi’s to preach about Bitcoin being a solution, as it is still very early in its adoption and the problems the system is facing are urgent.
