"Ethereum Is Worth Nothing If This Happens" | Michael Saylor
In a 2-and-a-half-hour interview with Preston Pysh, Bitcoin Bull and founder of Microstrategy, Michael Saylor discussed various topics, including the importance of scarcity and urgency within in monetary system, monetary energy, and the FUD narrative that is being spread about Bitcoin. Saylor believes there are bigger systemic issues at play when it comes to spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt about Bitcoin and the biggest FUD narrative they are spreading is the proof-of-work versus proof-of-stake energy consumption comparison. Ethereum recently made major waves and received praise from the crypto community, as they successfully completed the “merge”. The Merge refers to the original Ethereum Mainnet merging with a separate proof-of-stake blockchain called the Beacon Chain, now existing as one chain. This merge is reportedly reducing Ethereum’s energy output by 99.95%. In Saylor’s view, while the merge may save energy, the whole concept behind Ethereum and any other tokens that need constant updating or more importantly, can be updated at someone’s discretion, is not comparable to the scarce availability of Bitcoin and its true essence of decentralization. Saylor believes when the dust settles, Bitcoin will win out and get past all of the FUD being thrown it's way.
