Mike Novogratz: "There's Two Sides Of Bitcoin Right Now"
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading for $19,399.75, a slight recovery since the Fed announced a rate hike of 75 basis points on Wednesday, November 21st. The 75 basis point increase was expected by many analysts and pundits, but Powell’s hawkish sentiment drove both the traditional and crypto markets to crash. Many believed that the Fed would be aiming for a soft landing, but Powell’s comments made it clear that the landing will be hard, and we should expect slower growth, higher unemployment, and potentially a recession.
Powell stated; “The chances of a soft landing are likely to diminish. No one knows whether this process will lead to a recession or, if so, how significant that recession would be.”
In an interview with CNBC Squawk, billionaire investor Mike Novogratz gave his thoughts on the Fed and where he sees cryptocurrency heading, particularly Bitcoin and Ethereum. Novogratz believes, like many, that the Fed is a tough spot because theirs the tale of two economies right now. On one hand, inflation is running rampant, and businesses saying they believe their heading for a recession, on the other hand, the service industry booming, Novogratz believes the same can be said about crypto, but in the medium term, the big adoption of major players is laying the foundation for crypto to boom.
